Building Capacity for Successful Soil Health R&I Initiatives

The first (foundation) session of the Capacity Building for Successful Soil Health R&I Initiatives training was successfully held on 4 February 2026 at the AKI headquarters, organized by the Soil-X-Change (SXC) project and the Innovation & Digitalisation Support Unit (ITE).

The event aimed to introduce research and innovation funding opportunities and prepare Hungarian stakeholders for active participation in international collaborations.

The programme was opened by Gábor Király (SXC) and Lívia Kránitz (ITE), who highlighted the importance of knowledge sharing and partnership building in projects focusing on soil regeneration and sustainable agriculture. While SXC serves as a professional collaboration platform supporting networking and knowledge exchange in soil health and sustainable farming, ITE strengthens knowledge transfer between researchers, advisors and practitioners, helping agricultural innovations reach practical implementation.

Experts from the National Innovation Agency (NIÜ) delivered comprehensive presentations on the Horizon Europe framework programme, covering project types, application processes, consortium building, use of the funding portal, documentation requirements and key financial aspects.

In the afternoon, case studies brought theory into practice. Participants gained insights into the organisation and operation of the SXC thematic network project at AKI, as well as practical experiences from the Living Lab network presented by the Discovery Research Center.

The workshop strengthened participants’ proposal development competences and laid the groundwork for the advanced training session taking place on 25 February 2026. The detailed programme will soon be available on the ITE website.
